Plot
It has been some time since Van fell into the core. Things should be peaceful... But they're not.
Strange occurrences have been happening everywhere. Chesedonia, once a desert town, now not only seems to be getting heavy rains every other day at least, the water of the ocean nearby seems to have risen considerably. At high tide, it even floods the streets slightly. In addition, the heat no longer seems like that of a desert. Indeed, on some days, people have actually described it as being "chilly"
Conversely, the capital of Malkuth, Grand Chokmah, is suffering from the opposite problem. No longer does water flow next to the streets. The sea level has seemed to drop, and it seems to be unbearably hot...
Baticul, the capital of Kimlasca, is also having strange problems. There are frequent gusts of wind, that give actual physical pain whenever someone is in their way, seeming to have not only become stronger, but sharper... There are also frequent thunderstorms, and there have been five deaths by lightning in the past month alone.
The continent of Radessia has been having frequent earthquakes recently. Mostly there are minor tremors, but some of the more major ones have done damage to buildings. Occasionally, people actually see stalagmites of stone shooting out of the ground. In addition... There doesn't seem to be much of any wind recently. Even a slight breeze is rare. However, when there is a breeze, you may sometimes notice a flower petal or two riding on the wind, even though most things have always seemed unable to grow in Radessia...
The city of Daath, once famous as a religious center, is nearly empty. This is because of the fact that it, and the entire continent it lies on, is completely frozen over. Even in winter, it never gets this cold. Everything is buried under a blanket of snow, so deep that moving through the streets is difficult. Not only that, occasionally people will find that their doors have frozen shut, and have to be forced open...
And then it gets even stranger.
In the once frigid city of Keterburg, there are no shadows. None. Everything seems to not only reflect the sun's light, but absorb, magnify, and release it all at once. It is painful to even keep your eyes open when outdoors during the daytime, and if you look at the sun, you'll be blinded for hours. Even at nighttime, things seem a bit too bright. There are still no shadows, and it is never at all difficult to see anything you try to look at, even when by all rights, you shouldn't be able to see at all, for example, like in a dark alley.
That's not all however. The intense amounts of sunlight have caused the temperature to rise. While the frigid city has not turned into a desert... It really is no longer frigid. While snow used to constantly fall, instead, there is rain. Rain which makes what little snow remains be more like slush, and makes everything slippery and muddy.
The Naval base of Kaitzur seems to be engulfed by shadows. During the daytime, the sunlight that shines seems subdued, leaving a slight shadow over everything. It is no longer at all unpleasant to look at the sun, its visible brightness doesn't even compare to a lantern. At sunset, it is like nighttime, and at night... The stars and moon are barely visible spots of slightly less darkness in the sky. It is impossible to see anything at all without a lantern, and even then, things are barely visible at all.
And finally, there is Yulia city. Something just plain seems off. There is nothing that you can quite put your finger on, but the closest that can be reached in description through words... It seems as if everything is blindingly bright, yet dark at the same time. Burning heat and biting cold, incredible gusts of wind, violent earthquakes, utter chaos, and stillness all at once. That is what it feels like. Nothing actually happens to the city at all, but being there makes you feel as if you have gone insane, as so many contradictions happen all at once... Without even happening at all.
The entire world is feeling the unfortunate effects of everything that is going on. For some strange reason, fonons of each type seem to be gathering in spots near the places that are now feeling strange effects from them. Choral Castle near Kaitzur has huge amounts of the First Fonon, Darkness. The second fonon, Earth, is gathering in a hidden city, known as Nam Cobanda Isle, which is just off the coast of Radessia. The Third Fonon, Wind, is gathering in Inista Marsh, which is near Baticul. The fourth Fonon, Water, is gathering in the Zao Ruins, which lies in the desert near Chesedonia. The fifth fonon, Fire, is gathering in Theor Forest, near Grand Chokmah. The Sixth Fonon, Light, is gathered in a cave, which can't be reached by foot, because of the nearby mountains, near Keterburg. The Seventh Fonon is gathered in Yulia City. An unknown fonon that is quite similar to the fourth, though isn't quite, is gathered at Mount Zaleho, near Daath...
The Planet Storm, which sends fonons out of the Radiation Gate, and into the Absorption Gate, has somehow gone horribly wrong. Not only is its flow reversed, the ancient poison known as miasma is somehow caught up in it. Slowly, the poison spreads throughout the world. Only very small amounts of it, not even enough to cloud most of the air, but over time, this could very well be a huge disaster...
However, the miasma is already causing major problems. The Gates themselves, and everything directly between them, (from north to south, Absorption Gate to Radiation Gate) is clouded with the miasma. It is as if a purple, gaseous cloud serves to separate the world into two halves... It is nearly impossible to survive long enough to travel through this line, as the poison will kill most people before they have any chance of crossing it.
There is a space between the two gates that the Planet Storm does not travel through however, which could be sailed through. This is still inadvisable, there are strange, twisted monsters that inhabit the ocean in that space. These creatures are capable of destroying ships, and they cannot be taken out by your average fighter.
In addition, Seventh Fonists have begun having strange dreams every night. In these dreams, they see nothing at all, there is only sound. A strange, eerie, haunting song, sung by a man...
